Frequently Asked Questions

1) How Does the Therapulley Help Me Stay Fit?

The Therapulley strengthens the body’s tissues, including the ligaments, cartilage and muscles surrounding the joints, and increases the body’s tolerance to exercise-induced stress. That means no matter what kind of weight-bearing activity you perform, whether its running, walking, baseball, or gymnastics, the Therapulley will counteract the breakdown of tissue, thus repairing and healing the body from the inside out.

2) What type of exercises should I do with the Therapulley?

Everyone has different fitness levels and health needs that require custom Therapulley conditioning based on factors like their age, previous and current injuries, and sports activities. It’s important to follow proper techniques when using the Therapulley. The instructional videos available for download provide step-by-step instructions on how to perform various exercises.

Whether you want to perform spinal rotations, shoulder girdle, flexion, extension, adduction, abduction and internal and external rotation exercises, or knee and hip flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, and internal and external rotation exercises, the Therapulley offers great comfort and adaptability.

3) How many sets should I do?

Incorporating different positions, monitoring the number of repetitions and sets of each exercise, allowing yourself proper breaks between sets, and paying attention to the speed in which you perform each exercise is imperative to gaining optimal performance. Consult with your doctor, physical therapist, trainer, and/or coach regarding how to perform each exercise. In addition, instructional videos are available for download.

4) What parts of the body does the Therapulley work?

The great part about the TheraPulley is that it works both small and large muscle groups, allowing for versatility and specificity. Working the small muscles close to the joint such as the rotator cuff, hip, and spinal muscles improves endurance and strength. Working the large muscle groups, such as the gluteals, quads, and abdominals improves core stability and provides injury prevention. The Therapulley is used frequently for rotator cuff rehabilitation and core stabilization.

5) What type of injuries and health conditions does the Therapulley help?

The Therapulley helps cure muscle injuries such as neck and back pains and sprains, strains, shoulder injuries, elbow pain, hip and knee injuries, stingers, facet joint and disc problems. It also addresses inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis, and bursitis. By exercising the supporting structures, the Therapulley increases your body’s range of motion, while improving coordination, endurance and strength.

6) How much weight should I use?

First and foremost, always follow your doctor’s/physical therapist’s exercise regimen when using the Therapulley. QTEK recommends starting off with little (1 to 2 pounds) to no weight and slow working your way up to build your body’s tolerance. Remember, the key is less weight, and higher repetition for injury prevention and healing. The Therapulley’s weight capacity ranges from six ounces to a maximum of 25 pounds.

Note: Weights are not included. Weights are available for purchase in pairs of progressive cuff weights of 5 lbs. and/or 10 lbs. QTEK also suggests using soup cans, water-filled plastic bottles, or other household items that are easily acquired and measurable. By using what’s available, you incur less cost, and less weight in your suitcase.

7) Why use the Therapulley over other pulley on the market?

Other pulleys on the market are bulky, jerk the neck, and can heat up. The Therapulley is uniquely designed with your needs in mind. Best of all, all of our products are made in the U.S.A with a lifetime guarantee. We choose the finest, most durable materials.

8) Why is the Therapulley more beneficial than using free weights or an elastic band?

The rubber band method is counter-productive in physical therapy. It can actually cause injury flare-ups in patients and can aggravate their symptoms. Specifically, the elastic resistance increases while muscle fibers shorten into an inefficient contraction leading to injury. Unlike the elastic band method, the Therapulley reproduces your body’s natural movements and simulates sports activities.

9) What is S.T.E.P. Therapy and how can it be used in conjunction with the Therapulley to help me recover from injury?

S.T.E.P. (Scientific Therapeutic Exercise Progression- trademarked by the Ola Grimsby Institute) is a series of exercises designed to help heal your injured tissues with controlled resistance (ROM). There should be no increase in pain, and you should be mindfully aware of the exercises you methodically perform them on the Therapulley. The best part about S.T.E.P. Therapy in conjunction with the Therapulley is you can start rehabilitating as early as one day after your injury.
