COURSE DETAILS:

This comprehensive, hands-on Dynamic Soft Tissue Mobilization is popular due its immediate and relevant application to patient with acute and
chronic dysfunction. This course offers an integrated approach to understanding muscle fiber orientation, anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, and functional mobility. Participants will gain practical insights grounded in scientific principles and evidence-based practices.

Dr. Ghandour will lead discussions on:

  • Enhance Clinical Expertise: Develop advanced skills in soft tissue mobilization to address musculoskeletal dysfunctions effectively in physical therapy practice.
  • Promote Evidence-Based Practice: Equip physical therapists with the knowledge to integrate functional-based soft tissue mobilization techniques into their treatment plans.
  • Improve Patient Outcomes: Enable physical therapists to optimize functional outcomes by reducing pain, improving mobility, decrease guarding and restoring soft tissue health and mobility
  • Advance Manual Therapy Skills: Provide physical therapists with specialized hands-on techniques to complement therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization, and other interventions.

Participants will engage in hands-on lab sessions, where Dr. Ghandour will demonstrate:

  • Evaluation and differential assessment between articular, fascial and muscular limitation
  • Dynamic Soft Tissue Mobilization to major muscles and intricate muscles of the spine, and extremities
  • Manual and Tactile Techniques: Apply targeted mobilization and manipulation techniques based on dysfunction assessment Soft tissue and joint arthromechanics.

This course is structured with 30% lecture content and 70% practical lab work, ensuring that participants leave with actionable skills they can immediately apply in their practice. Join us for a day of learning that will enhance your clinical expertise and improve patient outcomes.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role of soft tissue mobilization (STM) in physical therapy for addressing pain, muscle tightness, and mobility limitations.
  • Describe the physiological effects of STM on fascia, muscle tone, and circulation.
  • Identify specific indications, contraindications, and precautions for applying STM in clinical settings.
  • Demonstrate advanced palpation techniques to locate trigger points, adhesions, and soft tissue restrictions.
  • Perform soft tissue assessments, including observation, range of motion testing, and tissue mobility evaluation.
  • Differentiate between myofascial restrictions, muscle guarding, and scar tissue remodeling needs.
  • Myofascial release techniques for areas such as lumbar spine, cervical spine, shoulder, hip and knee.
  • STM for scar tissue remodeling in acute and chronic stages.
  • Incorporate STM to flush metabolites, reduce soreness, and improve performance recovery
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating STM alongside other physical therapy interventions (e.g., therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization, neuromuscular re-education).
  • Integrate STM to reduce Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and improve circulation for athletic population.
  • Apply STM to specific conditions such as low back pain, post-surgical scarring, chronic pain, and overuse syndromes.
  • Use objective measures such as pain scales, range of motion, and functional assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of STM interventions.
  • Document STM treatment techniques, duration, and outcomes to meet professional standards and support patient progress.
  • Integrate new STM skills into their physical therapy practice to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
